Continuing a Family Tradition

Collin Sasser with his familyFor Collin Sasser, supporting the Greater Chicago Food Depository is a family tradition.

When he was younger, Collin's father introduced him to the Food Depository, and it made an immediate impact.

"I think we did a volunteer repack session in the warehouse," Collin said. "The experience just stuck with me."

When he got a bit older, Collin began donating to the Food Depository.

"It's such a community-based organization," he said. "You know that when you are getting involved, it's going to be making an impact right where we live."

Collin has continued the tradition, volunteering at repack sessions every year with his son, CJ, and his wife, Alison.

He recently took his support one step further by becoming the youngest member of the Will to End Hunger Society, which means he will be making a legacy gift to the Food Depository when he passes away.

"It's a way to get estate planning involved in charitable contribution," he said.

More than that, though, it means he'll be making a lasting impact on the fight to end hunger in our community.

"I want to make sure that my support enables the Food Depository to continue doing what it's doing, while also being able to expand its programs that fight hunger in the future."
